All happening on Saturday night as a group of promising Juniors compete against our promising juniors on Saturday night

Our guys will have a final training on Thursday night between 5pm and 6-30pm as they join our elite squad

7pm and all tables will be used for the latest edition of the Christmas Comp.

Congratulations to the 60 players who will be playing tonight and Good luck to all teams.

& to start proceedings the Annual version of our Boxing day test -Centre court Belcher vs Carter — was also going to feature the Tierney vs Kilderry re match but Jimbo has done his back -Mike has a dodgy knee but their team mates have shown compassion and want them involved in the seasons opener. So JIm & Mike will be offered front row seats -in the umpys chair

But Mick did show his loyalty again to the club recently. He cant play comp because of his legs, still coaches while in considerable pain & he came to the club during the Community Cup just to help out where he could

The man who declares he is never late, was having an afternoon meeting with the COFFEE yesterday.-He sent a message at 1-36pm saying he wont make it at 1-30pm !
Gordon was on the ball and had actually guessed that once 1-30 had ticked over the ‘Pizza’ would be late.

Many years ago a Publican told me the secret to being a good manager or in his case a publican is to remember peoples first names. Very hard for a drip like I who gives everyone nic names and don’t know their first names although i guess i remember Nic names -which probably fits half the club !

Then we have the tricky spelling or the Surnames which is actually their first name, or the 30 different spellings of Mohammad, Or those with changed names , and the shortened names or add letters to give it an Aussie sound but how about the dad who spelt his own sons name wrong ! Can’t dob this lefty in but his own name is different to what we know him as.

Saturday squad -yes it continues up to Christmas -It was the lowest number of students for the year ,so everyone got plenty of time with the 6 coaches.
1-30pm Club opens officially & the hall was very quiet -Lucky coaches had students as we had hardly any members & no public hire.

Come 2-30pm and numbers had picked up & by 3pm. A line up of people wishing to hire courts and we had 4 players on each of the 3 front courts and people sitting around chatting waiting for a hit ! HALL WAS PACKED..

And it stayed full for the rest of the afternoon !

Summer Pennant returns in February 2020. ALREADY and even allowing for those who have said they wont be playing -I have some very good players wishing to play
CHRYSELA- FITZY- BRIAN ZAMMIT- SIENG- KEN ERDAL -PAUL WATSON -HENRY- LAIHUA -DOMINIC -CYRUS-GORDON
and others- Plus not much scope to promote all leading players from Spring

HOW EVER -if I change Section 3 & 5 to 3 player teams NO DOUBLES – 2 players play 2 singles & 1 plays one singles- (5 team matches per night) . -problem could be solved -So does some one want to come to Coburg just to play ONE singles . ? Is that better than not playing at all ?

Why these 2 grades only ?
They at least have the bonus of finishing early ! Will not make someone come to the club later for one match only – If you are a sec 3 or 5 player and you don’t like this option you will be offered one grade lower ! -Plenty of player are requesting promotions.

Exam time so some of our ‘guns’ were unable to train tonight but it allowed us to train some of the guys who will be playing against Geelong in just over a week PLUS invite a couple of pennant players to help out
THE MANNEQUIN nearly melted – ROSS was wrecked and SCRUFFY pulled the pin before the end
Impressive debuts from Ali Jarrah + Thomas -Nathan looked even smoother than normal -Bronson is a running machine -Oscars skills are excellent Morgan and Jaimin continue to improve and Katie and Mia continue to train hard . The work done by Lim especially with the players service is fabulous and it was a treat seeing Raymond and Steven G training hard. Lachlan is the proud owner of a new blade donated by Paralympian Barak Mizrechi
